Participation on FRINGE 2023-Leeds, UK

fringe23-1

On the 11-15 of September 2023, our PhD Candidate and Researcher, Mr. Dimitris Kakoullis, participated on the 12th International Workshop on “Advances in the Science and Applications of SAR Interferometry and Sentinel-1 InSAR” – FRINGE 2023. The workshop, co-organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the University of Leeds, was held at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom (UK).

The participation took the form of a poster presentation entitled “Initial Validation Results from the Integrated Use of Permanent GNSS Stations and SAR Corner Reflectors in Cyprus by means of the CyCLOPS Strategic Infrastructure, authored by individuals from Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) – Dr. Chis Danezis, Coodinator of the CyCLOPS Infrastructure Unit and Associate Professor of Geodesy, German Aerospace Centre (DLR) – Prof. Michael Eineder, Mrs. Nerea Ibarrola Subiza and Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence. The research findings indicated the performance as expected from a properly installed high-quality CR network.

The scientific objectives of the workshop included the conjuction of the global InSAR research and development communities, fostering invaluable international exchanges among researchers and research groups. Futhermore, the Sentinel-1 mission status, algorithms and products were presented in the workhop, along with the revision and assessment of the progress made according to the recommendations voiced at Fringe 2021. Also, it sought the consultation and guidance of esteemed scientific communities in preparation for ESA’s support of forthcoming science activities related to Sentinel-1, BIOMASS, ROSE-L, and Harmony within the InSAR domain. These objectives underscored the workshop’s commitment to advancing cutting-edge research and innovation in the field of Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry.
