CUT Laboratory of Geodesy has installed the first radar tide gauge station in Cyprus. The new station is located at the Old Port of Limassol. It will be part of the national tide gauge network, PYTHEAS, established by the Department of Lands and Surveys (DLS) in cooperation with the Cyprus University of Technology.

The new tide gauge station is an integrated system comprised of a state-of-the-art radar water level sensor, a permanent GNSS station and a meteorological station able to log measurements at regular intervals yielding a combined dataset of precise tidal and environmental information. This dataset will be used, amongst others, for the establishment of the national vertical datum, and the monitoring and determination of Mean Seal Level (MSL) with very high accuracy.
